What is the staff Ratio?

There are no specific numbers. Each resident’s dependency is assessed individually and the correct staffing numbers calculated and put in place. This is constantly monitored and adjusted accordingly. Typically in a nursing unit we have 1 Nurse to 15 residents in addition to a nursing manager and other care and support staff.

What activities are provided?

Each Unit has its own activity co-ordinator who is employed entirely to interact with residents and not to deliver care. They organise monthly outings to local places of interest. They also arrange for people to come into each unit eg: singers/progressive mobility/ pet therapy/ theatre groups etc.  Activity co-ordinators also organise in house events such as tea parties/coffee mornings/quizzes/ games.

What is food quality like/can you cater for different diets?

All food is prepared fresh on site and locally sourced where possible. We can cater for all sorts of dietary requirements. Information will be gathered at assessment to ensure all dietary requirements can be met and assistance provided as appropriate.

Do staff undergo regular training?

All staff have the required mandatory training prior to starting work – ongoing training is also provided for personal development.

Funding Advice

This can be discussed in person once we know your financial situation and provide various options available.

We offer open visiting from 8.00am until 8.00pm– simply asking people to be sensible and avoid mealtimes as we have protected dining for our residents.  If people wish to visit outside these times this can be arranged by speaking to the nurse in charge.

Which hospital do we use in Emergencies?

The QE is our usual port of call in cases of emergencies.

Can we take our relative out?

This is usually possible with prior notice in order that we can ensure medication is available and will also depend on each individuals circumstances and if it is in their best interests.

Extras not included in fees?

These are only hairdressing/chiropody and trips out. Residents set up an additional services account meaning they do not have to have cash. All expenditure is recorded and statements provided to families.
