Along with a central production kitchen where all our resident’s meals are prepared on a daily basis, we have 6 satellite kitchens within the units of our care village. Part of your role includes, liaising with residents and their families, you will need to be friendly, understanding and approachable for all visitors to our village.

When applying for kitchen assistant jobs in care homes you will need to be comfortable working alongside our elderly residents and understanding their various needs such as Dementia care homes etc. Our residents often have allergies or special dietary requirements or needs in regards to the texture of the food given to them. They may need a soft diet or pureed to accommodate their physical needs or diagnosis. Training on how to present these varying diets would be given. Part of kitchen assistant jobs in care homes involves assisting the cook/chef in providing a high standard of catering service on a daily basis. Ensuring all food areas and equipment are maintained in a clean and hygienic manner. Assist the cook/chef in serving food and drinks to residents. Work according to work/rota schedules. Assist with the correct storage and stock rotation. Assist with special functions as and when required. Maintain high standards of personal hygiene.

Maintain high standards of cleanliness and ensure that work areas are kept in a clean and hygienic state and that good hygienic practices are observed in the cooking process to the standard of the food hygiene regulations. Ensure the Health and Safety at Work Act is complied with and that any accidents are reported immediately. Report faulty equipment. To be familiar with COSHH policy (training is provided). To be aware of safe handling and storage of cleaning products. To attend training sessions as considered necessary.
